MASASHI KISHIMOTO - Naruto #70
Naruto (Volume 70) continues with action on the battlefield involving the forces of Madara against the shinobi world. With Naruto and Sasuke Uchiha out of commission and the reanimated Hokages beaten back, Might Guy is having Madara all unto himself. But even he, with all his Eight Gate Release Transformation opened, is finding it difficult gaining an upper hand over his enemy.
Meet the Sage of the Six Paths:
While Guy continues to toil against Madara, Naruto, in his unconscious state, has a vision where he meets with the Sage of the Six Paths. The Sage tells Naruto his story and how the present evil plaguing the world came through Kaguya, his mother. The Sage then shares his powers with Naruto as well as Kasuke Uchiha.
The Infinite Ksukuyomi:
Naruto wakes up to see Might Guy dying after his unsuccessful attacks on Madara. Naruto steps in to heal Guy in time. After seeing to Guy’s injuries, Naruto and Sasuke decide to face down Madara. The next development sees both gain a slightly upper hand over Madara. However, it is too late as their enemy initiates the Infinite Ksukuyomi (the eternal illusion where everyone will live a happy life).
The Infinite Ksukuyomi begins to affect all on the battlefield, except the caster as well as the reanimated Hokages. Other set of people unaffected are Naruto, Kasuke, Kakashi and Sakura, who are fortunate to be protected by Kasuke’s susanoo.
While cocooned in the susanoo, the four shinobis plot on how to turn the tide of the battle and counter Madara’s illusion. However, they fail to factor into their plans the emergence of an evil force greater than anything they’ve ever known, even greater than Madara.
Naruto (Volume 70) is the best volume yet in this majestic series. It ties up major key parts of the Naruto Shippuden’s plots as well as introducing major players who live up to the hype in a big way. This volume is a must-have for diehard fans.
